Luis Enrique surprised everyone with his post-match comments after the 3-0 win against Reims. He criticized the overall performance of Kylian Mbappe despite the French forward scoring his hat trick. ESPN’s French analyst Julien Laurens gave his observation about the situation, “Even when he has the ball and sometimes, he forces it a little bit, he goes too on his own, he doesn’t defend enough, he doesn’t track back enough… all of that stuff that I think Luis Enrique will have a chat with him. Will that change something? I’m not sure. They like each other. Kylian likes him and respects him. So it’s a good start. He (Enrique) said it three times.”

The comments from Luis Enrique do make sense in the context of the match. It is because Reims had 19 shots and PSG had 14 shots in the game. But, fortunately for PSG, goalkeeper Donorumma made important saves in the match.  The forward line did struggle in the first half despite an early goal from Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid will remain interested in Kylian Mbappe despite denying rumors

There were intensifying rumors that Kylian Mbappe was ever close to Real Madrid. The news got so much coverage that Real Madrid had to put out a statement denying the rumors. Soccer fans on social media have pointed out that they put out a statement only to avoid any legal issue with Paris Saint Germain. However, some reports claim that Madrid remains 100% interested. PSG are also ready to make an offer to extend the contract of their star player. But, Mbappe has not yet made a decision.

PSG wants him to make a decision quickly because he can officially negotiate in January with foreign clubs including Real Madrid. This is because his contract ends in the next summer transfer window. Saudi clubs are also keeping a close eye on the situation. But, Mbappe does not prefer a move to the cash-rich league. He is also aware that the No.9 shirt is ready for him, should he finally make a move to Madrid this summer.
