Kevin De Bruyne, who has been sidelined for the past three months due to injury, faced another setback as his home in Belgium was raided by burglars. The incident occurred while the Belgian was away, as he is currently with the Manchester City squad in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup. Notably, his wife, Michele Lacroix, made the discovery.

The burglary happened Saturday evening at De Bruyne’s vacation home at Zandstraat in Bolderberg, Belgium. Despite the theft, it is fortunate that no one was hurt during the incident.

Apparently, burglars broke into De Bruyne’s house somewhere between 4 and 9 p.m. Thankfully, his wife, Michele Lacroix, and their three children were safely away from the house at the time of the break-in. According to HLN, the criminals managed to enter the first floor of the apartment using a stepladder.

Upon entering the premises, they ransacked the house, leaving it in disarray. The primary target of the burglary seemed to be jewelry, as the officials reported the missing items from the house. Upon finding the break-in at approximately 9 p.m., Michele promptly notified the authorities.

The police have taken control of the investigation and are working to identify the culprits behind this brazen act. At this point, no further information has been released about the identities of the burglars. What is even more unfortunate is that several similar incidents like Kevin De Bruyne’s have occurred with soccer players throughout this year, including instances involving Neymar Jr and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

In November, an unfortunate incident occurred at the residence of Bruna Biancrdi, Neymar’s ex-girlfriend. While Biancardi and her sister were away from the house, robbers broke in and stole items worth $123,000. There were also concerns that the robbers had intentions to kidnap Mavie, Neymar’s and Biancardi’s daughter.

However, the suspects were apprehended later on. Similarly, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma experienced a violent burglary in July. According to reports, the burglars forcefully tied him and his wife after stripping them. Then, the culprits made off with money and goods worth up to $550,000.
