Soccer in Ukraine has been vastly affected due to ongoing conflicts with Russia. Several soccer stars have urged to bring everything to normal since the disputes started. And now the Ukrainian superstar who plays for Arsenal FC, Oleksandr Zinchenko, has weighed in on the current situation.

Zinchenko has been critical of Russia and expressed concern for his home nation. He spoke to Piers Morgan recently. He took a dig at the Russian President over the recent massive tragedy that affected thousands. Let us dive deeper into the disaster and Zinchenko’s comments about Vladimir Putin.

Kakhovka Dam was one of the most important water reservoirs in Ukraine, built on the Dnieper River in 1956. It got destroyed recently amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Both nations blamed each other for the destruction. However, Arsenal superstar Zinchenko has criticized Putin for the disaster. While speaking on Piers Morgan UncensoredUkraine International didn’t hold back.

Zinchenko said, “I don’t even want to say his name. I don’t even want to say his name or talk about him. It’s incredible. Honestly. Just yesterday, I watched, because I have been following all the news, and I watched a short clip of his video when he was talking to someone sitting on the table. I don’t know even these people who was there around. It’s like young men and girls.”

Talking about the Kakhovka Dam tragedy, he said, “And he was talking about ‘Kakhovka Dam’ which they destroyed one week ago. And he was saying that, obviously, Ukraine did it. Well, 100000 people lost their houses. Some of them didn’t survive. There was one zoo. 300 animals died. In the video he was saying, Ukraine did it because they were planning to do counterattack.”

The Russian President’s conduct did not impress him over the dam tragedy. It’s been over a year, and the disputes between both countries are ongoing and have affected soccer in both nations. Nevertheless, one prominent soccer club is working towards improving the state of affairs in the war-torn country through this gesture.

Charity soccer game for Ukraine

Todd Boehly took over Chelsea last year. He went on a spending spree and brought Ukrainian star Mykhailo Mudryk. Mudryk, who played for Shakhtar Donetsk. The deal took place amid ongoing conflicts, and Boehly announced hosting a charity game for Ukraine at Stamford Bridge. The game will take place in August now.

Game 4 Ukraine will be a star-studded affair on August 5 in London. Zinchenko and Andriy Shevchenko, ambassadors of United 24, will captain two rival teams. Several soccer stars will play in the game to raise funds for the rebuilding of facilities and infrastructure in Ukraine. The teams will be named Team Yellow and Team Blue, which are colors of the Ukrainian flag.
