Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a busy man at the moment. The Spaniard has a lot on his plate with his side set to take on Fluminense in the finals of the Club World Cup. During his latest press conference, the Manchester City boss was asked about his thoughts on the European Court’s ruling in favor of the Super League, which generated a smart and determined response from the master tactician.

Manchester City has maintained its original stance on the Super League. Following their withdrawal from the tournament back in 2021, the club wants nothing to do with the runaway competition. This is a big blow with some of the top clubs around the world standing with UEFA on the matter, despite the court’s verdict.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has never shied away from making his opinion known. With the soccer world buzzing about the European Court of Justice’s ruling in Super League’s favor, media outlets were keen to know Guardiola’s stance on the matter. However, it seems like the Spaniard is keeping a tight lip at the moment. During his press conference, he quickly deflected the question, stating, “I won’t talk about it before a final.”

Manchester City is not the only side that has snubbed the Super League. Big clubs around Europe, such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, and RB Leipzig, have already issued a public statement denying any involvement.

The Super League is set to have a tough time getting participants after the ECJ’s ruling

In a surprising turn of events, big clubs around the world have snubbed the Super League despite it winning their legal battle against UEFA. Even top leagues such as La Liga, Premier League, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 have issued official statements mirroring UEFA’s stance claiming the court’s verdict does not validate the Super League. This is an enormous blow for the Super League, who are yet to find big names apart from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid joining their bandwagon.

The two Spanish giants have been keen supporters of the league and have stated that the league would very well start as early as the 2024/25 season. However, with no big names as a part of the league, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the tournament.
