Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid is most likely on the cards. The Frenchman is bound to leave Paris Saint-Germain after the current season ends. While the anticipation to see the forward don the white jersey continues to mount among Los Blancos fans and players alike, goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has made a surprising declaration, favoring Erling Haaland over the goal-scoring Frenchman as his preferred striker. 

After Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, both generational talents of the current day have never failed to take center stage and leave an indelible mark on soccer fans. While everyone has their own opinion, Lunin seems to be impressed with the Manchester City star instead. Recently, the 24-year-old took part in a rapid-fire round with El Chiringuito TV. Interestingly, when the Ukrainian was asked to choose between Mbappe and Haaland, he said, “As a number 9, Erling Haaland.” Before Madrid fans go after their young goalkeeper, let’s see what he could’ve implied.

From the looks of it, Lunin sees Haaland as a better center-forward. The 24-year-old seems to have avoided stirring debate in the soccer fraternity by directly stating his preference without comparing the two. He could be a fan of Mbappe, but the goalie chose not to reveal the same. However, it indicates his preference for the Norwegian over the 2018 World Cup winner. This could potentially spark controversy for a significant reason.

It’s no secret that even Lunin is aware Mbappe will most likely become his teammate next year. Yet, you would be surprised to know that Lunin isn’t alone in his choices; a Real Madrid legend also snubbed Mbappe earlier. 

Fabio Cappello wants Real Madrid to sign Erling Haaland instead of Kylian Mbappe!

Earlier, Fabio Capello was questioned about his preference between Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe if he were the current coach of Real Madrid. Interestingly, the Italian legend responded by highlighting that Mbappe is not a center-forward, as he rather likes to play on the wing. Also, Carlo Ancelotti already has Vinicius Jr. in the position.

Although he acknowledged Mbappe is better than Haaland, he had advice for Madrid. Capello wants Madrid to reconsider their stance on the PSG sensation. “If Madrid is going to sign, they have to ask themselves if they have a center forward now,” he said. But it looks like Madrid will now settle with Mbappe. Yet, anything can happen.
