Ben Foster takes a friendly dig at Spanish giants

Tom Ochoa and Foster were on the Fozcast to make a big announcement of joining Wrexham AFC until the end of the season. They spoke on various aspects of the move. While discussing the move, Ochoa asked the goalkeeper about the perfect club to make a move at this stage. Ochoa cited Wrexham as the perfect club.

Foster joked“I thought you was going to say Real Madrid.” He added, “Yes, Wrexham, and that’s what I meant too. It’s Wrexham. It’s for sure. It absolutely works. I know I can drive it. It’s about an hour and a half away, an hour sometimes from my house. I spoke to the manager, actually. Richard Lee got in touch. I’m a free agent obviously, so there’s no transfer fees, nothing like that to worry about. I said, ‘Yeah, I’m interested’.”

Foster played last for Watford and announced his retirement after the 2021-22 season ended. He retired from professional soccer in September 2022. There were offers from MLS club Atlanta United and the Premier League club Newcastle United. However, he turned down big offers and came out of retirement to join the Welsh club.

Wrexham AFC is close to getting an automatic promotion to League Two. They are currently on the top of the Vanarama National League with a three-point lead over Notts County, their nearest title rivals. With eight games remaining, Wrexham is on the right path to getting that automatic promotion spot and avoiding playoffs.
