Saudi Arabia went berserk in the summer transfer market further solidifying their interest in bringing their domestic league to a global audience. There was a lot of backlash and competition with the way the Saudi PIF-backed teams relentlessly pursued their targets. The competition was not just among the European Leagues and Saudi but also internally. Delving into the situation further, Al Nassr president presented the supporters of the club with some internal facts from the transfer window regarding Sadio Mane transfer.

Al Ahli had a spectacular start to the season but their winning ways were soon halted. Roberto Firmino’s injury and the team’s overall decline in form have caused them to drop to the 3rd position. However, the club was persuaded to change the tides by signing a former Bayern Munich striker.

Khaled Al-Essa Al-Ghamdi, the president of Al Ahli, had a more profound plan for the 2023-24 season. Although signing some exceptional talents, he shows despair over not being able to sign one of Liverpool’s ex-winger. The president, in a recent interview, shared some deep insight from the summer transfer window.

According to Al-Ghamdi, he wanted to sign Sadio Mane for his club but the Saudi recruitment program had other plans. Shedding further light on the matter, he said, “Sadio Mane was ours, and I asked for Lewandowski and Ramos.” A shock for the club president came as Sadio Mane joined rivals Al Nassr to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

Even though the PIF has a high budget to finance the moves, the responsibility to get the deal done still falls on the shoulders of the club.

However, it seems that a dream move for a Catalan star can finally become a reality for the Al Ahli supporters. The Al Ahli president too has made his choice much clearer with his comments in the interview. Now, it all falls on the shoulders of the recruitment staff to clinch the marquee signing.

Failing to sign Sadio Mane, Al Ahli plans to move for former Bayern Striker

Al Ahli is actively pursuing a major transfer as they set their sight on securing the services of Barcelona’s prolific striker, Robert Lewandowski. The team has identified the need for a potent number nine and sees Lewandowski as the ideal replacement for Roberto Firmino, who has struggled to meet expectations in that position this season.

Al Ahli’s dissatisfaction with Firmino’s performance has accelerated their pursuit of the Polish goal-scoring maestro. As per reliable reports, negotiations are underway to bring Lewandowski on board as the team’s new talismanic striker. Despite Lewandowski having signed a three-year contract with Barcelona in 2022, there are strong indications that he might consider a move to Al Ahli in the upcoming transfer window.
