A muscle overload in Lionel Messi‘s right leg is costing Argentina and Inter Miami alike. Argentina has sidelined their captain for friendlies against Costa Rica and El Salvador in the US, because of the injury. Meanwhile, Messi has already missed Miami’s game against D.C. United and will probably be on the sidelines again during the NY Red Bulls tie. Anyhow, the player seems to have taken some time off amid the chaos, as he joined Luis Suarez and his family for a fun outing, to perhaps celebrate the birthday of a teammate.

In a video doing rounds on the web, Lionel Messi, his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, and their kids are seen attending what seems to be Miami teammate Jordi Alba’s birthday party. The cake seen in the video has a #35 candle on it. Alba notably turned 35 on Wednesday. Messi’s Miami strike partner Luis Suarez and his wife stood by the former, enjoying the celebrations. Throughout the clip, the Argentine’s long-time personal advisor Pepe Costa could be seen dancing to a folk song, accompanied by guitar tunes. Neither Messi nor Suarez has posted about the outing on their socials. Hence, we’ll have to wait and learn if the duo were at Alba’s birthday bash or a different party.

Before the fun outing, the 8x-Ballon d’Or gave slight respite to Inter Miami fans by showing up for training. But the respite was short-lived. Miami-based journalist, Michelle Kaufmann, who covers the Herons, reported that 9 players including La Pulga would miss the NY Red Bulls clash on Saturday. Well, it seems like the NY Red Bulls tie won’t be the only match the #10 will miss. A recent update on the superstar suggests he would probably resume action only in April!

What is the latest update on Lionel Messi’s condition?

Though he was not game-ready during training, Lionel Messi showed signs of recovery while jogging with his teammates. Argentine journalist Hernan Claus closely monitored the 2022 World Champion’s situation and said, ‘Evolution is going well,’ referring to his recovery. The journalist also added that Messi aims to return in ‘optimal conditions’ in Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup QF tie against Monterrey. The 1st leg against Monterrey is on April 04 and the 2nd leg is on April 11.

This means Messi could also miss Miami’s tie against New York City on March 31. Luckily, the Argentine’s absence did not cost the Herons against D.C. United. Luis Suarez showed up big with a brace and helped Miami win 1-3. To Miami fans’ luck, Suarez is fit and will lace up against NY Red Bulls.

Anyhow, the Herons’ attack achieves full momentum only when La Pulga is by El Pistolero’s side. Since the duo has now partied together, fans will be eager to see them triumph against rivals on the pitch soon.
