The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 started with a bang. The opening matches saw Canada draw their opening match against Nigeria, shocking the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal winners. Like all tournaments, the World Cup offers a lot of thrills and spills, and fans expect the same to happen. But not with Spain. They dominated their opening match against Costa Rica and scored a sensational 3-0 victory. Thus, they are the dark horses to win the World Cup.

They scored three goals in the match, as Aitana Bonmati and Esther González scored for Spain. The first goal came through an own goal as Valeria del Campo scored an own goal in the first half to give Spain the lead. Hence, fans reacted to the result and enjoyed their opening match.
