It’s never easy to be at the top of the mountain peak. French superstar Kylian Mbappe has come under massive scrutiny as of late, with fans analyzing every single move made by the player. Mbappe has been the standard bearer for the club and country in recent years, with fans expecting the player to deliver game after another. With pressure piling on the PSG ace, French soccer legend Thierry Henry jumped to Mbappe’s defense in an interview urging supporters to be lenient with the player.

While fans have a lot of expectations from the Frenchman, it might not be the only trouble plaguing his mind at the moment. Mbappe has found himself embroiled in a never-ending transfer saga. While the player has been linked with a move to Spanish giant Real Madrid since 2022, a deal has failed to materialize between the two sides. However, the player seems inching closer to his dream move this summer, with reports suggesting Mbappe could join Los Blancos as a free agent come July.

Former World Cup winner Thierry Henry defended Kylian Mbappe from the recent criticism in an interview with FootMercato. Henry, during the interview, stated, “I’ve been in a bit of that kind of situation where the expectation was a bit on you. It is not easy. People think it’s easy to always arrive, and score two goals, as he does. Yeah, cool, let’s put that aside. It’s still a pressure. Let’s not forget that he is small.”

He then added, “To conclude, as they say, who helps the helper? Who helps the guy who helps everyone? At some point, when he too needs help, are people lenient? Are they there with him? Are they there to help him? Or are they waiting until he weakens to kill him?”

It is interesting to see Thierry Herny jump to Mbappe’s defense. The player has been under massive scrutiny from fans with his future in the balance at the French capital. Many fans believe the player is focused on a move to Real Madrid and is not giving his all to PSG. However, contrary to public belief, Mbappe has been the driving force behind PSG’s success, with the Frenchman emerging as the top scorer for the side.

Real Madrid emerge as the favorites to land PSG superstar

The Merengues are currently in the driving seat, with the side in the pole position to sign Kylian Mbappe come summer. The Frenchman’s contract with PSG comes to an end in June. With the player yet to renew his contract with the side, reports suggest the player has already agreed to a verbal deal with Real Madrid.

However, nothing is set in stone, with PSG willing to shell out massive cash for Mbappe to extend his contract. While Premier League side Liverpool was allegedly said to be in the race for the French star, the player’s entourage has rejected any advances from the Reds following Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the club in June.
