Chelsea has been struggling on the pitch, and as such, the American businessman has been splashing out the cash to buy soccer stars. Hasn’t Chelsea violated the ‘FFP’ rule after spending so much?

Chelsea has not been at its best this season on the pitch. Todd Boehly is doing all he can to get the best players to the English soccer giants. However, the fans are unable to understand the logic behind spending such money. Todd Boehly has now spent over $190 million in January itself. This amount is far more than the total transfer fees of every team in the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, and Serie A combined.

The fans are wondering why FIFA isn’t raising the ‘Financial Fair Play’ issue with the club. However, the fans recently discovered the reason why Todd Boehly has gotten away after spending so much money.

The American businessman has started to offer MLB-styled contracts. These contracts are basically huge 6–7-year contracts. The benefit of these contracts is only that it allows the transfer fee to be equally distributed every year for the duration of the contract. Hence, if Chelsea signs a player for big money, the big amount won’t hit their financial books all at once.

However, the fans have not been happy with the way Boehly has tried to always throw money at every problem. The fans strongly believe that many of these new signings are not good enough to even make the Chelsea starting XI.

Will Todd Boehly’s attempt to ‘rebuild’ become successful, eventually?

Usually, soccer teams try to find temporary solutions to their problems in the January transfer window. The simple reason is that a lot of good quality players aren’t available in the market for a mid-season transfer. However, Todd Boehly has rewritten the way the winter transfer window should be run. But the fans believe that signing so many players all at once has not helped. Chelsea’s new head coach, Graham Potter is struggling to include many of these new signings in his starting XIs.

Recently, soccer fans publicly started to criticize Todd Boehly’s strategy by calling it an entire money laundering racket. With just less than 48 hours left in the transfer window, Chelsea is back in the market for Argentine World Cup winner, Enzo Fernandez. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is ready to pay about $130 Million to land the Argentine midfielder.
