Robert Lewandowski was one of the most important pieces of the puzzle at Bayern Munich. When the Polish veteran left the Bavarians, he left a void that seemed impossible to fill. But the German side was quick enough to fill it by signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who seamlessly integrated himself into the Allianz Arena setup. As soccer fans debate this tactical move, a seasoned expert presents two compelling arguments as to why Thomas Tuchel may have struck gold with Kane, citing the ability to score an ‘out of jail’ goal.

The statement was made in the latest episode of the talkSPORT podcast, where soccer expert Kevin Hatchard joined Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent to discuss the Englishman’s impact at Bayern Munich so far.

Former top-flight striker Darren Bent claimed that Thomas Tuchel has ‘won the lottery’ after signing Harry Kane. “Like you lose Lewandowski and you bring in that animal Kane. When you look at him and the way he looks at Kane, I think you can quite clearly see that Thomas Tuchel is like, ‘wow, look what I’ve got here,'” said the pundit. Hatchard then presented his thoughts. “I think it’s two things. The first thing is it’s a goal guarantee in the way that Lewandowski used to be, and even if you’re struggling, you’ve got a guy who can get you out of jail with a goal. The other thing is, he’s a standard setter.” Hatchard believes that Tuchel sees Harry Kane as a person in a locker room whom the youngsters can look up to.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
