Lionel Messi has been a superhit signing for Inter Miami since Day 1 itself. After two rough seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, the Argentine visibly seems to be happier again. Despite not qualifying for the MLS playoffs, the Herons still managed to lift their first piece of silverware. However, the final game of the season ended on a sad note after a loss to their rival New York City. While the fans were bemused by the result, Jordi Alba gave the fanbase a little insight on of one the Argentine’s career choices from the past.

It was in relation to his departure from Barcelona in 2021. While his exit stunned most of the soccer universe, how did Lionel Messi feel about it? That is what his Barcelona and Inter Miami teammate Jordi Alba gave the fanbase clarity on.

The Inter Miami defender claimed that Lionel Messi wasn’t inclined to sign a two-year deal with PSG. Nobody wanted him to leave Spain, including the soccer legend himself, “Messi leaving Barcelona was not what we wanted, nor did Messi want it. He left and spent two years in Paris, which was not good, but well, he came back and proved that he is still the best”. Well, it all worked out in the end, didn’t it? The soccer veteran is now enjoying the last seasons of his career in the US. However, the Herons ended up embarrassingly losing on the final day.

Inter Miami failed to perform at the highest standards against New York City in the friendly encounter. The Herons’ 2-1 loss was a reflection of their lackluster performance from the second phase of their MLS campaign. Lionel Messi failed to impact the game like he usually does. Amid all the chaos, La Pulga recently shared his disappointment in missing out on his #10 jersey during his tenure with PSG.

Lionel Messi is widely acclaimed for showcasing his masterclass with the #10 jersey, starring for Argentina and Barcelona. He scored over 800 goals and reached a significant pinnacle in his career with this jersey number. However, the Barca icon did not get to don his #10 shirt at PSG, as Neymar had already claimed it. Instead, he opted for the #30 which also rekindled his initial days with Blaugrana.

On the same, Messi commented, “When I was in Paris, I didn’t wear the number 10 shirt. Although it wasn’t a big deal, I kind of missed a little not having ‘my number’, right? Because I have worn it all my life, but it’s ok, then I got used to it”. Guess what, upon arriving in the USA, he slid right into a jersey with 10 imprinted on the back of it. And his impact in the States has been surreal.
