Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr is one of the most lethal attackers of the current generation over time, exploiting defenses with his explosive pace and skillful dribbling. However, despite his skill and talent, the youngster has been unable to get past Manchester City star Kyle Walker, who’s always had the better of the attacker.

The two last faced each other during the Champions League semifinals in 2023, where Kyle Walker did not allow Vinicius any room to make his open runs. Fans were again expecting a great battle between them during the clash between England and Brazil. However, fate had other plans, as Walker had to be subbed off in the first half after picking up an injury.

Vinicius spoke of his challenges with Walker following the game while hoping to face him soon. The Brazilian star stated, “Kyle Walker subbed off? Every time a player leaves the pitch injured, it’s very sad, not only for the player but for all of us who are there on the pitch. We want to play against the best.”

He further added, “Walker, I always say, he’s the best defender I’ve ever faced, and it’s always a very good duel. He respects me a lot and I respect him a lot. Each one of us defends their team with the everything in the world.”

While Vinicius might be eager to get 1v1 against Walker, Guardiola will hope it’s nothing serious. The defending champions will want their left back for the Champions League quarter finals, where City and Los Blancos will face off in April. Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate will be worried as well.

Walker was subbed off the field in the 20th minute with Villa star Ezri Konsa coming in for the defender. According to reports., Walker has sustained a hamstring injury. England boss Gareth Southgate commented on his player’s injury following the game, noting that he has no update on Walker and will only be able to provide concrete information after the results are out.

England is already without Harry Kane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Bukayo Saka, who missed the game against Brazil because of their respective injuries. Adding Kyle Walker’s name to the fray is a colossal blow for the team, as the players would be tipped to play an essential role during the Euros this June.
