The Gregg Berhalter controversy has been a hot topic in the soccer world ever since it first started during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Gregg Berhalter, the then-coach of the US soccer team, was criticized for not playing one of the most promising talents in the squad, Gio Reyna, enough. This led to Reyna’s family being unhappy with the situation. And his mother even went as far as to blackmail Gregg with an incident that happened back in 1991.
The incident in question happened when Gregg, in a heated argument with his present wife, Rosalind, kicked her in the knees. Gio Reyna’s mother, Danielle, knew about this incident and reported it to the US Soccer team. This ultimately led to the hiring of a new coach for the US Men’s Soccer team.
