Real Madrid dismantled Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final. Yet, most of the credit for the victory goes to Vinicius Jr., whose first-half hat trick sealed the game for Madrid. Despite his incredible performance, the talking point was the player’s ‘Siu’ celebration, emulating Cristiano Ronaldo after the first goal. And as per the Brazilian winger, it was planned all along and he never misses an opportunity to showcase his love for CR7. A few months ago there was also a lighthearted moment when the Portuguese superstar playfully teased this youngster about his absence from the latter’s wall.

However, Ronaldo, who is currently enjoying the winter break in the Saudi Pro League, graced the match against Barcelona at Al Awwal Park. And this tribute from the Brazilian winger would have likely brought a smile to the Portuguese’s face. Vinicius had planned the ‘Siu’ all along considering that Ronaldo was expected to attend the match. Moreover, there was some extra motivation for the Vinicius. The match was held at CR7’s current home stadium, Al-Awwal Park, and it seems Vinicius didn’t want to let him down. Following the match, he explained the gesture, stating “My celebration? Cristiano Ronaldo is my idol and now he’s playing here.”

The winger scored twice in the first 10 minutes and ended Barcelona’s hopes right there. Robert Lewandowski managed to return one back with a ranged effort. However, Vini scored again via penalty to seal Barcelona’s fate. His fellow Brazilian Rodrygo scored in the 2nd half and Real Madrid comfortably walked away with a 4-1 victory, and with the Spanish Super Cup.

After inheriting the iconic No. 7 jersey for the 2023-2024 season, Vinicius mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo as an inspiration. And, his performance did seem to be truly inspired by vintage CR7.

Last year when Vini Jr. shared a picture of his home gym, there was a wall with paintings of great athletes Ronaldo Nazario, Pele, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. Later, in April that year, Ronaldo visited Madrid’s training session in Saudi, and Vini Jr was spotted having a chat with his idol at the Madrid club facility. That’s when Ronaldo joked he was missing from the Brazilian’s home gym. Later he soon added former Real Madrid star alongside current LA Lakers star LeBron James.
