Soccer, a sport adored by many around the world, is a physical game. Heated exchange between players and the official is a common occurrence in soccer. Players sometimes aren’t happy with the referee’s decisions and show their dissatisfaction by confronting the official.

However, the fact that players chase down a referee and start physically attacking him is unsportsmanlike and wrong. This is exactly what happened in the country of the Republic of Congo. Recently, in Lubumbashi, a women’s soccer match between DC Motema Pembe and TP Mazembe Women resulted in a 5-1 loss for Pembe.

However, the level of intensity escalated when the referee denied a questionable foul in the penalty box. Thus denying a penalty to Motema Pembe. This decision clearly added more fuel to the anger of an already frustrated women’s team who resorted to physical violence.

The soccer team chases down and attacks the referee

Following the decision from the official, Montema players chased down the referee in anger. The referee ran towards a shelter in an attempt to escape the oncoming players, but they caught up to him. Here, the players from Monetema Pembe started attacking the referee, with all of them throwing their arms at him.

Then some bystanders stepped in to stop the attack. The referee attempted to escape and rushed down a tunnel. However, it did not satisfy some players, as some players even went on chasing the official in the tunnel too. While this bizarre incident was happening, the women from the opposition team stayed on the pitch, watching all the events unfold.
