On her way out, she has the enormous responsibility of helping her team OL Reign lift its first-ever National Women’s Soccer League title. A day before the playoff final, she shared a hilarious message on social media after completing her final training session.

Megan Rapinoe has played a very important role in the rise of the USWNT and also women’s soccer as a whole. The soccer icon will strive to finish her career as a player with a domestic title in her precious trophy cabinet.

Before heading to the World Cup, Megan Rapinoe announced that she would retire at the end of the NWSL season. This came as a shock to many soccer fans. While there was no doubt on her scoring prowess, the injuries had become too frequent. In her last-ever attempt to attain domestic glory, OL Reign faces Gotham FC in the NWSL final as she hopes to end her successful career on a high. Ahead of the game, she had her final training session with the team and she shared a hilarious message on social media.

The USWNT legend shared a carousel of photos from her final training session in collaboration with the league’s official handle. Additionally, she penned, “Bethany will be hearing from my lawyers“. In her statement, she is referring to her teammate Bethany Balcer. Both the players have played an important role for OL Reign. In fact, the responsibility of leading the attacking line will now likely be the role of Balcer.

Megan Rapinoe has become the perfect example for women soccer players on and off the pitch. She has also played an important role in making sure that women’s soccer in the US gets the same respect as men’s soccer.

Megan Rapinoe – A name US Soccer will never forget!

Megan Rapinoe scored 63 goals and provided 73 assists in 203 games for her country. She also won 2 World Cup trophies with the US. The soccer veteran has won the NWSL Shield twice in her career. In her short stint with Lyon, she won the Division 1 Féminine and Coupe de France Féminine in 2012–13. However, many will also remember the off-field contributions she has made.

She along with her former national teammate Alex Morgan won a $24 million settlement over unequal pay with the men’s soccer team. Megan Rapinoe also advocated to end racism and also for LGBTQ+ rights. In 2022, for her contributions to the sport and beyond, she became the first soccer player in the sport ever to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
