Saudi Arabia is reaping the fruits of its recent investment. Previously, not many Asian leagues, if not all, had failed to feature such a star cast of talent. Perhaps, only a big name or two. However, Saudi Arabia, with the help of the PIF, took that leap forward. The SPL will feel assured thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo and now, Sadio Mane.

The sheer number of arrivals to the Gulf can be attributed to a plethora of reasons. Some came for the money, others for unexplored challenges. Mane, who was not meeting expectations at Bayern Munich, chose Asia for a specific reason. The fact that both he and his mother preferred the kingdom due to its Islamic roots.
