The upcoming season in League Two is set to be an interesting one for Wrexham AFC. The team is preparing to retrace its National League success last season and to achieve that, a strong squad is needed. Wrexham’s manager Phil Parkinson has already made it clear that the team is only going for the few targeted players he has in mind and is willing to wait to sign them.

One of the players linked to Wrexham is ex-Manchester United player, Nick Powell. Reports suggest that the two might be in talks to make this signing happen. The move, if it materializes, has been branded to benefit Powell, even though he currently plays for Stoke City in EFL Championship, which is two divisions above Wrexham’s League.

The potential move has garnered a lot of attention. And Stoke City reporter, Peter Smith, recently talked to North Wales Live, where he shared his views on the potential move. When asked if he expects Powell to sign with Wrexham, Smith responded positively, saying, “It’d be an interesting move, certainly”.

He pointed out the obvious saying, “No one would really expect Powell to drop two divisions in normal circumstances but Wrexham seem like a unique case, both in terms of finances and platform”. Smith also added, He likes to play with a lot of fun and being at a level that, without meaning to be disrespectful, is below him would ease any pressure and he’d have a good time”.

“Couple of Players We Want” – Linked With Ex-Manchester United Ace, Wrexham Boss Phil Parkinson Confirms the ‘Element of Truth’ in Transfers Before League Two Starts

This certainly is a pretty good reason to join Wrexham. Powell’s style of play would also be well-suited to Wrexham’s. Playing as an attacking midfielder, Powell could bring in extra support to Paul Mullin and further strengthen the attack. And for the Wrexham manager, he is willing to even wait to make this happen.

Phil Parkinson is willing to wait to get his target players

Phil Parkinson is focused on securing just a few key signings that will truly make a difference to the team’s performance. Parkinson recognizes that the current squad is already quite capable. He also acknowledges that finding players who are genuinely better will be no small feat.

Instead, he plans to take his time in identifying and pursuing the right players for his team, while still ensuring that any new additions will truly improve Wrexham’s overall game. While it may take some time for these deals to come through, Parkinson is willing to put in the effort and patience needed to bring in top talent.

“We have targeted the ones we want and we are in discussions with those clubs,” he says. “If we feel they will really improve the squad, then, of course, we will go all out to get them”.  In short, Parkinson knows what it takes to build a winning team. And he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Wrexham comes out on top.
