“That’s the mentality of the sport. You have to have a positive outlook, especially as a goalkeeper. So I think I spent too many years in my early 20s thinking, like oh what if I don’t catch it? What if I make a mistake, the ramifications? And that will hold you back. I promise you it will hold you back,” said the Englishman.
“So I get to a point where, (am I allowed to swear). So I just get to a point where I’m like f**k it, just f**k it. It’s not the end of the world. I’m trying my best here and if I make a mistake here, it’s cool. It is what it is. I’ll go into the dressing room and be like lads. I’m sorry. I did not mean to make those mistakes. So once I started to do that, my performances went up, and I felt so much happier,” he added
Ben Foster’s words hold great value, considering the goalkeepers’ experience across the country. With Wrexham hoping to clinch promotion from League Two, Foster will have to play a crucial role for the side once again.
