An NFL star just reminded the soccer universe about such a game. Chad Johnson was a renowned NFL star during his prime, he played on the same team as Tom Brady for a season too. Johnson recently tweeted about a decade-old soccer match highlight.

However, the score and date of that match are already engraved in gold in soccer history books. This was a soccer match that no soccer fan will ever dare to forget.

Which soccer game did Chad Johnson remind us about?

The best part of this story is that this game isn’t even from the topmost flight of English soccer. Match highlights of such games are always doing rounds on social media. Soccer fans watch these clips and remember the good old days. Chad Johnson retweeted one such clip on his Twitter. The NFL star wrote, “I remember this game”, and added a ‘shocked’ face emoji.

Rolling back to 2013, Watford faced Leicester in the Championship playoff semi-final. The aggregate score between the two legs was tied at 2-2.  The clip was from the dying moments of that soccer match. The next scorer would most likely be the winner of the game. Leicester attacker, Anthony Knockaert earned a very controversial penalty during the final seconds of the match.

Every soccer fan thought that Leicester would snatch away the game in the most controversial manner. However, Watford’s goalkeeper, Manuel Almunia had other plans. Almunia saved the penalty and another rebound shot by Knockaert. A defender then launched a counterattack after clearing the ball away. Watford ran down the right wing with the ball before crossing it into the box. Hogg headed the ball down an incoming Troy Deeney’s path. Deeney smashes the ball into the back of the net. Watford ends up winning that historical game.

However, this is not the first time Chad Johnson commented on a soccer game. The NFL star went viral during the FIFA World Cup. He tweeted that he would only propose to his girlfriend if Lionel Messi scored the penalty.

A few months before the World Cup, Tom Brady went viral too. The NFL veteran was part of a trailer advertisement for the FIFA World Cup. Fox Sports released the ad to educate American viewers about the upcoming World Cup because the dates were clashing with the winter holidays.

NFL legend, Tom Brady was part of the advertisement. The 45-year-old quarterback took a friendly dig at soccer veteran, Cristiano Ronaldo. In the ad, Tom Brady was watching a Ronaldo free-kick clip. While Ronaldo banged the ball into the goal, the NFL veteran decided to take a friendly dig at Ronaldo.

Tom Brady jokingly said, “He’s getting kind of old, isn’t he?”. However, the fans did not see any malice in that comment. Tom Brady is fighting through the disadvantages of aging himself. Most of the fans have all the respect in the world for both sports legends. Mainly for their priceless contribution to the world of sport.
