The FIFA World Cup recently came to a close. The 2022 edition of this prestigious tournament had some of the biggest upsets ever. There were magical moments too like Lionel Messi lifting his first-ever World Cup trophy. However, many of the fans had their eyes on Chad Johnson’s Twitter wall. The former wide receiver was a renowned player during his prime. Johnson shared the pitch with big named players like Tom Brady.

While the World Cup was on, Johnson was laying the odds for proposing to his long-time girlfriend. While teams like England shockingly crashed out of the World Cup, fans were sad for England as well as Johnson.

Was Lionel Messi responsible for Chad Johnson’s engagement?

Chad Johnson first tweeted about proposing to his girlfriend, Sharelle Rosado while England’s quarterfinal game was on against France. After putting on a decent performance, England was still trailing by a goal. However, England won a penalty late into the second half.

Before the penalty, Johnson posted a tweet saying if Harry Kane scored the penalty, he would propose to Rosado on his birthday. With less than ten minutes left on the clock, England’s Harry Kane needed to score the penalty to equalize 2-2. However, Kane missed the target completely and blazed his shot over the goal.

After the shocking miss by Kane, even Rosado posted a tweet saying, “Damn Harry lol” that revealed her frustration. While the fans thought this was it, Johnson rose again on the final day of the World Cup.

Argentina was playing France and the Argentines were awarded a penalty. While Lionel Messi was walking to the penalty spot, Johnson tweeted again. He posted a tweet saying that if Messi scored the penalty he would finally propose to his fiancé on his birthday. Luckily, Messi banged the ball into the back of the net.

Chad Johnson kept his word. A day prior to his birthday, he posted a tweet of his wife’s hand with the engagement ring on it. Many of the fans loved the ring and the excitement Johnson created around it.

When Tom Brady called Cristiano Ronaldo ‘old’

Fox Sports released a teaser commercial two months prior to the FIFA World Cup. However, The advertisement went viral after Tom Brady jokingly commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s age in the advertisement.

The whole story of the ad was built around Americans getting excited for the ‘biggest sporting event’ on the planet. Whilst the ad was on, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a free kick in the advertisement on their television. The NFL pro was watching the television from a distance and he said, “He’s getting kind of old, isn’t he?”.

While the advertisement went viral, the fans also knew that Tom Brady is at a similar stage of his career where he’s fighting through his aging body too. Tom Brady currently holds the record of being the oldest-ever quarterback to win an NFL playoff fixture.

Ronaldo did not have the greatest World Cups as compared to his rival Lionel Messi. However, the Portuguese star just signed a new contract with Saudi side Al-Nassr that will make him millions in the coming years.
