Wrexham is in perfect shape as they are enduring one of the best seasons right now. The club is on cloud nine as they are in terrific form. Both actors have been working tirelessly for the club and are desperate to turn things around. Since their arrival, the club is very close to achieving its long-awaited promotion.

They recently added the first trophy to their CV after the women’s side was crowned champions for the first time. They have also done a great job on the men’s side, as they have made several additions to their squad. However, Ben Foster’s signing was a highlight, as the player opened up about the shocking transfer.

The keeper had already hung up his boots, but the player somehow made a return to soccer and signed for Reynolds’s side. The player made a return to soccer almost 10 months after his retirement. He recently made his debut against York City as the Red Dragons clinched a 3-0 victory. It was a good debut for Foster, but many still wonder how he eventually signed with the club. Hence, recently, while speaking on his podcast channel, ‘Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast,’ the player opened up about his shock transfer.

Ben Foster opens up about a phone call with Ryan Reynolds

The goalkeeper revealed he had a hilarious phone call with Reynolds before appearing on a show with Mark Goldbrigde. “We’ve got about 15 minutes left to go, and my phone starts ringing, so I’ll pick it up and it says Beverly Hills. It really it’s plus — I ain’t got a clue what it was plus four what are all these mad numbers but underneath it, it says Beverly Hills USA.”

“I looked at it and I looked at them, and I went Beverly Hills! it’s Beverly Hills! I think it’s him,” he added. “So I’ve answered the phone; hello Ben, it’s Ryan Reynolds.” The player also revealed that Reynolds had kind words for the goalkeeper. “He was brilliant honestly he was so so cool um he was just he basically he sat by saying ‘listen I’ve got to say mate I am so thankful for you doing this I am absolutely buzzing you here.’” he said. “It’s all positive, and I’m so happy and thankful. Welcome on board.”

Foster also revealed he got a phone call from co-owner Rob McElhenney as well, who was also thrilled by his arrival. The keeper also had heartwarming words for the co-owner. “He’s so cool man, you can see how much it means to him. You can in his soul, genuinely you can tell this is in his soul like this means a big deal to him.”

Nervous while making his debut for Wrexham

Foster gave some excruciating details about the phone calls with Reynolds and McElhenney. Besides this, he also opened up about his debut, saying he was quite nervous before the game. “I will not lie to you um I was nervous for the game. I will always play cool and try and play it down, and you know not merely try and make too much of a deal of it.”

“But I was nervous because I think when you’ve had that long away from the game—10 months of genuinely thinking, Oh, I’m done, I’ve never got to worry about another match day, never got to worry about training—you kind of just fall into this. And then all of a sudden you’re asked to go and perform and I had two days of training,” said Foster.

Nevertheless, Foster was able to keep a clean sheet and help his side clinch an important victory. He’ll be looking to lead Phil Parkinson’s side to glory, as they are desperate to clinch the automatic promotion.
