Moreover, Jose Mourinho seemed helpless as he rested several A-team players for the game. As a result, he was handed one of the heaviest defeats in his career. Although the Italian giants have played well this season, this defeat comes as a shock in his managerial career. Notably, post-match, the special one went on a rant, explaining the reasons for his loss.

Jose Mourinho rants

Famous for his press conference antics, the Portuguese manager made a few controversial comments regarding his team. Notably, he blamed the squad for a heavy loss.

“If I could always play with the same XI, then I would. We have a huge gap in quality between the two groups of players. At least the positive thing from now on is that nobody will ask me why I always use the same players,” said Mourinho.

Many managers rotate their squad to keep their players fit for difficult fixtures. Hence, with the competitions coming in thick and fast, Mourinho did the same. However, the manager’s decision to rest players did not work out as he spoke about the problems he faced.

“We have a very good team, we don’t have a very good squad. We didn’t play with the team, we played with the squad, and we were punished by that. If I could use the same players every match, I would. We were punished because they are better than us,” said Mourinho.

The same old Mourinho?

As he blames the players, speculations rise if the same old Mourinho is back. The manager has not had a great time since he left Chelsea. Once regarded as the special one, Jose seems to have lost his mojo to get results. However, is he on point with his comments or is he blaming his squad for his own shortcomings?

Whenever he went to a club, the blame game seems to be a trend. His old-school pragmatism is not working these days like it used to work back in Chelsea and Inter Milan. The Manchester United era saw him lower down his credibility to an all-time low after fallout with a lot of talented players. While he started his career well with Roma at the beginning, things look to have gone down south for the manager.

Thus, there are suggestions that Mourinho is back to his shenanigans, lesser tactics, and more antics. Whether or not he could pick his side up from this devastating loss remains to be seen. Undoubtedly, all eyes will be on Roma in the coming weeks.
