French side Paris Saint Germain have had a disappointing start to their Champions League campaign. The French club drew to Belgian side Club Brugge who gave a disciplined performance to steal a point.

Many soccer fans consider PSG as the favorite to lift the Champions League and rightly so. The Qatar-backed club has players like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, etc in their ranks and it will be considered a disappointment if this team fails to lift the trophy. The PSG manager spoke to the press and gave a surprising answer on who he thinks are the favorites for the Champions League this season.

Addressing the press before his side’s opening match against Brugge, Poch called Chelsea the favorites to win the Champions League. The Argentine believes that being the defending champions and also investing higher money than PSG this summer makes Chelsea the team to beat.

“Are we favorite? It is possible that Chelsea and we are the two teams to beat on paper, given our numbers, but Chelsea are the defending champions,” Pochettino said at his press conference. “They invested even more than Paris this summer. For me, they’re the team to beat.”

Further, he elaborated how PSG need more time for their bunch of world-class players to become a team. Since more than half of their team now consists of new signing, he emphasized that the new recruits will take time to settle in with the club and tactics.

“We are a club that has recruited a lot, but now we have to lay the foundations to become a great team. We know that we will be judged at the end of the season on our results. The pressure still exists in all the clubs. We know that in Paris Saint-Germain, the Champions League is a major objective.”
