World No. 2 and star player Daniil Medvedev has been in the form of his life in recent weeks. The 25-year-old player managed to do the impossible, halting Novak Djokovic from winning his 21st Grand Slam title. In doing so, he became the proud winner of the final Grand Slam event of the season, the US Open 2021.
Recently, German tennis player Mischa Zverev spoke on the US Open final between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. He felt the Russian came into the match with some great tactics. He used his backhand to slow the pace down and then used his hammer-like forehand to put the Serb on the backfoot.

The 34-year-old player stated, “Medvedev came out and really tried to slow down the game with his backhand and then sting like a scorpion with his forehand. So, he had a game plan and did really, really well. He was so focused and determined and his game plan worked out perfectly, Novak wasn’t sure what to do.”

Reflecting on Daniil’s season, he began competing in Melbourne and came to the final before going to the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. At the French Open, he had his best run as he managed to reach the quarterfinal. In the past, he has never managed to win a main draw match at Roland Garros.
Next up at the Wimbledon Championships, he made it to the fourth round before losing out to Hubert Hurkacz. The clay and grass are his less preferred surfaces. Once the tennis shifted towards the North American region, he began playing some exceptional tennis.
