TAXING! Denis Shapovalov Overcomes Karen Khachanov To Reach First Ever Major Semifinals at Wimbledon Championships 2021

We’ve approached the business end of Wimbledon Championships 2021 and things have gotten intense. Today, we had Karen Khachanov take on Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals. They have played once on the hard courts and it was the Canadian who won that match. Today, the Canadian won the match 6-4 3-6 5-7 6-1 6-4, which lasted for three and a half hours.
Set 1: Denis Shapovalov too clinical for the Russian
As the match began, both players were serving with great effect. During the seventh game, Karen Khachanov got three chances to get the first break of the match but he failed to convert any.

Soon after, in the ninth game, it was Denis Shapovalov’s chance to break and he capitalized by breaking the Russian. In the next game, he served for the set, winning it 6-4 in 49 minutes.

Set 2: Karen Khachanov makes his presence felt
The big Russian began the set on a high note. He broke the Canadian in his opening two service games. Within no time, Khachanov was up 4-0.
However, he was broken once by Denis but that did not change the circumstance of the set. After 40 minutes into the set, Khachanov won the set 6-3.
Set 3: The Big Russian rides on the momentum
In the following set, both players served brilliantly and did not allow their opponents to cause much havoc. They held serve until the 11th game of the set.
Karen got the first break of the set and consolidated it by holding serve and clinching the set 7-5. It took him 51 minutes to seal the set in his favor.
Set 4: Denis Shapovalov takes the match into a decider
The Canadian served brilliantly from the start of the set. He was stepping up his levels and was successful as he broke the Russian twice during the set. In 32 minutes, he won the set 6-1 and the momentum was clearly on his side, moving into the fifth and final set.
Set 5: The Canadian comes out on top
In this set too, both players served with great intensity. However, in the ninth game, Denis got the break at 5-4. he later served it out and won the set 6-4.

The Canadian will face World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinal on Friday. It will be interesting to see how things unveil on that day.
