“Broke My Hand” – Daniil Medvedev Crashes Into Camera During Battle Against Andrey Rublev

Looking to return to the final of the Cincinnati Open, World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev took on his compatriot Andrey Rublev in the semifinals. However, the 25-year-old suffered a shocking moment midway through the second set, which saw him seething with anger.
During the third game of the set, Medvedev crashed into a camera a little behind the baseline while attempting to return to Rublev. While he lost the game, he began yelling about the incident while kicking the lens of the camera as well.

Medvedev looked in control of the match from the get go. He led the fourth-seeded Rublev after winning the first set 6-2, and both players traded service games in the second set.
However, disaster struck the top seed towards the end of the third game. Looking to return a two-handed backhand, he ran deep across the court to get to the ball, only to clatter into a camera placed courtside.

Worried about his hand, Medvedev launched a tirade against the chair umpire. He yelled at him saying he almost broke his hand due to the collision, and took it a notch further. As the cameraman and the volunteer looked to put the camera back up, the World No. 2 kicked the lens in a sign of pure frustration.
Medvedev ran into a camera at the back of the court.

Medvedev forced to take a medical timeout after the collision
After losing the point, and the game, the 25-year-old stormed off to his corner. While seated on his bench, the Russian angrily called for a physio, saying he couldn’t play. In addition, he also threatened to sue the tournament for not taking his words seriously on the issue.
Despite the heated exchanges, the World No. 2 returned to the court to continue the high-intensity match. Whether or not the Russian progresses to the final remains to be seen.
