Just after Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alex de Minaur on 9 November, everything looked perfect. He had played confident tennis, the crowd was excited, and he walked into the press conference the same way he always does after a win. But then an awkward silence filled the room. It all started when a journalist suddenly asked him about his love life, if his “heart had been stolen” or if he was still “free,“ a question no one expected.

Alcaraz looked confused and even leaned forward as if he needed to hear the question again. “Excuse me?” When the journalist repeated the same question. Alcaraz finally responded, “I am free. I am free. I am free.”
And now, a week later, just before his semi-final match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alcaraz revealed to El País, without taking any names, about the pressure that comes with fame. “My life has been very exposed so I have to know how to deal with it,” he said. He shared that even though he enjoys being open with fans, he still needs to protect some parts of his life.

Carlos Alcaraz added that not everything needs to be shared, especially when people are watching closely. “There are many things that should remain private. There are others that are better kept to yourself to feel secure and at peace, even if it’s just a small bubble where you can feel safe,” he said.

Carlos Alcaraz further added, “In the end, whether positive or negative, everything has a big impact.” This is not the first time he has spoken honestly about relationships. In 2024, he said clearly and loudly that he was “single” and still looking for someone.

He explained, “I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time.” His honesty made it clear that he faces the same struggles as many young people, even with all his success. But while his personal life remains private, he continues to light up the tennis courts.

Carlos Alcaraz has next goal within his sights
Carlos Alcaraz has just had the very best season of his career—8 titles, 2 Grand Slams—and it could become even better. Currently playing his semifinal against Felix Auger Aliassime at the ATP Finals, Alcaraz has blitzed through the first set. Looking in imperious form, Alcaraz played his best set of the week, winning 6-2, while swatting aside the Canadian’s shots like flies, looking invincible.
If Alcaraz continues to rip through shots as he has been, then his goal of 10 titles this season may easily become reality in the next 48 hours. “End the year with ten titles. With the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup,” said Alcaraz in an interview with the Spanish radio program, El Larguero.
With Jannik Sinner out of the Davis Cup, the path may very well be wide open for the Spaniard to help his team lift the crown for the first time since 2019 and close out his season on a winning note.
