Adventurer Bear Grylls Lauds Tokyo Olympics 2020 Hockey Team for Showing Resilience

Despite being the national sport of the country, India’s recent success in hockey is limited. However, Tokyo Olympics 2020 proved to be a successful campaign for the men in blue. After last claiming a podium in the 1980 Olympics, Team India took home the bronze medal in Japan. They defeated Germany in a stunning match which ended 5-4. A 41-year-old jinx was broken as the country celebrated its latest success.

Moreover, celebrities and fans put up tweets on their victory while Bear Grylls got into the act as well. The British adventurer gave his tribute to India for winning the bronze medal in the event.

Team India wins a thrilling match

It was the fifth medal for India in this year’s Tokyo Olympics 2020. During the early years of the Olympic games, India was a force to reckon with, with Dhyan Chand showing his wizardry on the ground. However, poor facilities and mismanagement took them to an all-time low for many years.

After the 2016 Rio Olympics, the Indian Hockey team showed some mettle as they won a lot of tournaments. Notably, they won the 2017 Asia Cup, and the Asians Champions Trophy in 2018.

After getting thrashed by Australia in the group stages, India came back stronger and won all their matches, leading to the quarterfinals. Despite their good performances, Belgium steamrolled past them in the semis and entered the final. The bronze match vs Germany was a tight and exciting affair, but the Indians came out on top.

Now, the bronze medal gives hope to a nation as they seek to restore their lost glory in hockey.
