What is the Yurchenko double pike vault and why does it matter?
The Yurchenko double pike vault is an event named after Soviet gymnast Natalia Yurchenko since she won the gold at the 1983 World Championships in women’s all-around. The trick consists of two flips in the pike position. The same demands high speed and power.
And, Simone Biles is the first woman to do the same in a competition. Moreover, only a few men have tried doing it yet and Biles will be competing for it.
Who else will compete in the Women’s Gymnastics Team along with Simone?
This outspoken woman is all set to rock the Olympics with her Gymnastics performance. She is the only woman who has been to Olympics once. All the other members of the USA team do not have any prior experience in the Olympics.
Along with Biles, the other three women who’ll be in the USA Olympics team are Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum.
