Roger Federer is eyeing a glory road to Wimbledon this year but won’t be having his family by his side. The eight-time champion has confirmed that he will be traveling without his family to All-England this time.
Federer is currently in Halle, Germany in the quest for a record 11th title at the grass-court event, which has served as a traditional tune-up for Wimbledon.
Speaking at a pre-event press conference in the German city, the 39-year-old Swiss said he won’t be bringing his family along to Wimbledon as they would have to go through five days of hard quarantine. He added that while he has gotten used to the ways of the new normal, it might be “too complicated” for his loved ones and he would prefer not to put them through the hassle.

Roger Federer said his family is with him since Paris but will part ahead of Wimbledon
Federer said there is little hope that the quarantine rules will change between now and closer to the start of Wimbledon and hence, his family will be following his campaign on the lawns of All-England from afar.
He added that he will have his team – coach Ivan Ljubicic, Severin Luthi, and his physio Dani Troxler – for company at Wimbledon. They were with him at Roland-Garros as well.

“The family can’t come because they should stay in quarantine for 5 days. The whole bubble system is too complicated. The hopes that it would change have been buried already a long time ago. That’s why I’m going with Ivan, Seve and Dani, like in Paris,” Federer said.
The champion added that his family has been with him since his withdrawal from Roland-Garros but will part before he travels to the UK.
He said it would be long before he can see his loved ones again, but he is fine with it.
“My family is now here; we’ve been together since Paris. The time being separated is long with Paris and London but it’s not a problem. It’s a part of it and that’s why I’m ready,” Federer added.
