Through silent, empty stadiums, violence against rival teams, racist slurs, and repeatedly mocking chants, Chelsea fans have too often disgraced football. A look at such shameful acts which disgraced the complete football community.

1. Last year Mourinho lashed out on Chelsea fans for a silent fan showing at the Bridge, and even the visiting fans taunted the Chelsea crowd with chants of “Is this a library?” during the game. Mourinho was later reported saying that playing at Stamford Bridge was “like playing in an empty stadium”. The manager went further, calling the support the home fans gave his unbeaten, table topping team the worst in the land.

2. In 2010, after the Chelsea – Cardiff FA cup clash, a number of Cardiff supporters broke off from the main group and cut down an alleyway onto the Kings Road, where they were met by a group of violent Chelsea fans. Prior to the match as well, more than 100 Chelsea supporters had gathered, leading to clashes with Cardiff fans who arrived on coaches. The tension among the fans was palpable, and resulted in several incidences of violence.

3. Chelsea Fans have made it a habit to criticize players without any tangible reasons. Steven Gerrard has often faced the blunt, with Chelsea fans persistently singing the Gerrard slip chants, mocking the player because of his slip in 13/14 PL season at the Bridge. Even in matches with teams other than Liverpool, the insulting chant could be heard around the stadium, despite Mourinho having urged Blues’ supporters not to abuse Gerrard, a worthy adversary and a player for whom he had the greatest respect.

4. Last year, hundreds of Chelsea football fans went on a rampage in central Paris, smashing up cafes and shops before their Champions League tie with PSG. The worst of the violence was in Rue St Denis, a popular tourist street full of pubs and bars. Some 400 thugs could be seen making ‘Sieg Heil’ salutes and chanting racist abuses before they started attacking Paris Saint-Germain fans. Post the incident, the management was quiet on the actions.

5. The latest incident from two days ago had Chelsea fans repeatedly stopping a black passenger from boarding a Metro train in Paris before breaking out into a racist song. The shocking footage was recorded in the city at night as the Blues drew 1-1 in their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain. The passenger can be seen being pushed off the train on trying to board the carriage, with fans then breaking out into chants of “We’re racist, we’re racist, and that’s the way we like it!”
