There’s no doubt about how excellent the Nintendo Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is. The game is earning the praise it deserves, and it’s already in the running to be this year’s Game of the Year. The game hardly gives its players any reason to get bored. Everything in this game—every ability, every location, and every boss fight—is something else. But despite this, there are a bunch of things fans wish this game borrowed from its predecessors.
The Legend of Zelda series is known for learning from its predecessors and doing something new with them. That’s why direct sequels are a rarity in these games. Like every direct sequel in this series, this one changes a lot. It removes a bunch of abilities, and it adds an equal amount or even more.

It feels like this might just be the culmination of every idea that sprouted with Breath of the Wild. But there’s much that fans wish remained the same. The biggest feature that everyone misses from that game is stasis.

It basically allowed Link to stop things or enemies right where they stood and unleash a flurry of attacks on them. This came in really handy when dealing with those uber-powerful, dangerous enemies that could easily one-hit Link.
Rivali’s Gale is another ability that many fans wish this game borrowed from its predecessor. It was considered the best ability of them all because it allowed players to scale those slippery mountains with ease. It basically lifted Link in the air with a gust of wind, so he could easily skip a bunch of obstacles without much hassle.

But these missing abilities do not mean this game was not enjoyable. Heck, it was much more enjoyable than Breath of the Wild. But it’s only human nature to want more.
