Former UFC dual-weight champion, Henry Cejudo, took to social media and provided a rare apology to Aljamain Sterling for certain comments. The former Olympian was one of many who had plenty of thoughts about UFC 259’s bantamweight title fight. Chiefly, Aljamain Sterling became the undisputed champion off the back of a disqualification via an illegal knee by Petr Yan.

The now-former champion in Yan threw a blatantly illegal strike to a downed opponent, and the fight was swiftly called off. Sterling was severely concussed after absorbing the head strike and now sits as the new champion. Cejudo amongst others wasn’t particularly sold on Sterling’s malady and ‘The Messenger’ trolled Aljamain.

However, Henry Cejudo had a rare change of heart not too long after the tweets and apologized to ‘The Funkmaster’. He explained that seeing the belt wrapped around Sterling in such a fashion made him ‘mad’ and he sent out his apology. The video grab to his social media outlined Yan’s blatantly illegal strike as the real cause of his aggravation.

“I do want to apologize to Aljamain – I really do. I was a little upset, was a little mad. But at the same time, I was more mad that he ended up doing the interview and then the tweets and saw the pictures of him with the belt. It just rubbed me the wrong way. But at the end of the day it was an illegal strike by Petr ‘The Ugly Potato’ Yan… I want to apologize to him for some of my tweets.”
