When it comes to MMA, wrestling has dominated the scenes for a while now. More and more wrestlers are joining the world of mixed martial arts. As of now, the majority of the champions in the UFC have a strong base in wrestling. Few of them are even Olympic level wrestlers and Daniel Cormier is one among them.

Wrestlers who can strike are dangerous. They have an edge over their opponents as they can dictate where the fight goes. DC is a former Olympian who was successfully able to translate his skills to MMA.

Predominantly a wrestler, Cormier was able to adapt to the striking with quite an ease. He was able to conquer the UFC light heavyweight title and later moved on to conquer the heavyweight belt. He held both belts simultaneously for a while.

Daniel Cormier calls out Khabib Nurmagomedov

Daniel Cormier trains at American Kickboxing Academy, one of the best gyms in MMA. He trains along with some of the best talents in MMA including Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is also an excellent wrestler. Cormier and Khabib have developed a friendship over the past few years. Both men are often seen having fun with each other on their social media accounts.

Recently, Daniel Cormier posted on his Instagram a picture of him having his hand raised after defeating Islam Makachev in a wrestling match. Makachev grew up with Khabib and still trains with him.

In the comments section of the same post, Daniel Cormier took a jab at Khabib Nurmagomedov. Cormier said, “I’ll pin Khabib next.”

Khabib is known to wrestle with heavyweights and give them a tough fight. UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman joined in and jokingly called Cormier a “sore loser.”
