UFC light heavyweight Thiago Santos spoke to Daniel Cormier after his UFC Vegas 38 main event victory over Johnny Walker. ‘Marreta’ came out with full force in round 5 and landed the better shots to ensure he picked up the win. In turn, Walker failed to capitalize on the momentum he had during certain points in the contest against Santos.

Chiefly, some fans were disappointed with the pace of the bout as many fans expected a more violent showdown. However, both men were wary of the power that the other man possessed, thus leading to a stand-off. With the win, Santos snapped a three-fight skid and will be keen to return back into the pool of contention.

Thiago Santos- ‘Give me a little more money’

In his post-fight interview, Santos spoke about the difficulties that came with preparing for an unorthodox fighter like Johnny Walker. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to his gym and to the UFC before asking for a contract renewal. Coming off three straight losses, it was paramount that Santos picked up the win tonight.

“It was so hard to train for him. He’s unpredictable, you know, so hard to train for him. I train so hard. Two weeks before, I cut here my face, my partner throw elbow but I train hard. I try to knock him out but it’s hard to be close to him. He big but he move fast, it’s danger. I try to do my best and yeah, I want to say thank you so much.”
