Fedor Emilianenko in Recovery After Being Released From Hospital Due to COVID-19

Russian MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko is on the mend after coming down with a case of COVID-19 per recent reports. ‘The Last Emperor’ has released a statement after being released from hospital, much to the joy of MMA fans worldwide. Chiefly, the news came forth via Bruno Masami, an editor at the Gazeta Esportiva, and came in as a huge relief.

Emelianenko was receiving treatment in a Moscow hospital and provided an update to fans. He also gave a shout-out to the doctors who have been tending to the Russian icon.

Thanks to all who are genuinely concerned for my health,” Emelianenko told the community. “I feel fine, I am going into recovery. I’m grateful to the doctors and medical staff for their care and hard work.”

The 39-6 fighter is one of the best to ever do it, and fans always tune in for his bouts. ‘The Last Emperor’ last competed back in December 2019, where he earned an emphatic TKO win over Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. The end came at 02:44 of the very first round and helped Fedor re-enter the win column.

The legacy fighter had suffered a brutal loss to Ryan Bader in the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament after a meaningful run. Despite the decline in the latter stages of his career, Emelianenko still remains a viable heavyweight. He’s racked up wins over fellow icons in the sport and arguably comes in as a threat, even at 44 years of age.

It’s unclear how long Fedor Emelianenko plans to compete, however, he’ll undoubtedly be able to compete on his own term. His Bellator runs consisted of a 3-2 run and his reign was in question after the loss to ‘Darth Bader’. Chiefly, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker came out and questioned Fedor’s longevity in the organization.

Regardless of his run, Fedor Emelianenko’s legacy comes in set in stone. The Russian heavyweight has expressed a desire to compete in a New Year’s Eve show hosted in Japan to round out his illustrious career. Emelianenko bolstered a Hall of Fame career in Japan and it’s only fitting he calls it a career where he captured glory.
