Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton made a comeback to the boxing ring after a good decade. In order to prepare for his comeback fight, The Hitman shed a good few pounds and got back in shape. The 44-year-old fought Marco Antonio Barrera(48) in a no-winner, no-loser exhibition fight on November 12. Hatton is currently in Dubin, Ireland, where he was spotted visiting to The Black Forge Inn, a pub owned by the UFC star, Conor McGregor.

The British boxer was attending his mentee, Brett McGinty’s boxing match against Alessandro Ruggiero. And McGinty upheld his duty to his master in front of him. Brett McGinty won the bout and upped his record to 6-0 now.

Post the fight, it seems Ricky Hatton had every reason to celebrate, and it seems he chose Dublin’s very own, Conor McGregor’s place, to be on spot. 

Conor McGregor wanted Ricky Hatton as his boxing opponent

Conor McGregor, himself has been away from the ring for over a year now. However, it seems that there is considerable progress in his recovery now. But earlier this month, responding to a fan’s tweet, McGregor showed his interest in fighting ‘The Hitman’ as he wrote, “Wouldn’t that be something.”

The fan tweeted about Conor McGregor vs. Ricky Hatton in response to the news about the latter’s comeback. And McGregor himself once stated that boxing is his ‘first love’ in combat sports. However, as interesting as it would’ve been to see that manifest into reality, that was something that didn’t see any progress beyond the Irishman’s tweet.

Ricky Hatton in the Irishman’s pub

The McGregor vs. Hatton didn’t happen, but The Hitman sure did visit The Black Forge Inn during his time in Ireland. And was in all smiles as he got clicked in the UFC star’s pub. He even posed for a picture with the UFC championship over his shoulder.

Just like every other boxer, Ricky Hatton is not as active in terms of fighting as he advances with age. However, in his prime days, he did build quite an illustrious career for himself. The Hitman’s accomplishments include winning the world title in the light welterweight division three times and the welterweight division once. Hatton now spends most of his time training young boxers as well as his 21-year-old son Campbell Hatton.
