The combat sports social media landscape witnessed something interesting. UFC 321 is just around the corner on October 25. And the much-hyped Gervonta Davis vs. Jake Paul exhibition is still a few weeks away. Fans, however, came across an intriguing update. Reportedly, Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B placed a wager worth $460,000 on the UFC heavyweight champion to retain his belt.

Additionally, Cardi B believes the boxing lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, would outbox the YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul when they face each other next month. What seemed to concern most fans, however, was whether it was really Cardi B who placed the bet. Or if someone had hacked her social media account, like what happened last year.

Cardi B bets on champions: Tom Aspinall and Gervonta Davis in the spotlight

With a total bet of $250,000, Cardi B could win a healthy $460,000 in returns if the results come out her way. Given his last three fights ended inside the distance, Tom Aspinall enters the fight as a clear favorite. On the other hand, many have voiced concerns about the size and weight disparity between Paul and Tank.
But still, most seem to agree, skill-wise, the Baltimorean has the edge. Aspinall enters the cage more than 12 months after defeating Curtis Blaydes. Davis, on the other hand, returns after the controversial ending of his March 1 title defense against Lamont Roach Jr.
Around the same time last year, reports surfaced that Cardi B’s social media account had been compromised. So it’s likely that fans’ reactions were influenced by those earlier reports.

The big question: Did she really do it?
One fan got worried over a famous omen: “Omg, did Drake hack you??” It might sound baseless. But to some, the ‘Drake Curse’ is for real. Many believe that any sporting icon he picks to win is doomed to lose. Perhaps the size of the wager got this fan particularly anxious.
Another fan expressed similar concerns: “Oh, they done hack my sis account 😭” Given the amounts celebrities often play with, it’s not unusual for them to place high-profile bets on sports personalities to make additional gains.
Yet some users still found it hard to believe. One fan wrote, “There’s absolutely no way this is real lol.” Then another chimed in with alarm: “Did they hack Cardi’s account 😢?” But one might as well wonder. Considering past instances of social media hacks affecting Cardi B and other celebrities, such concerns might be genuine.
One fan chose to ask directly: “Cardi, did you post this???” They also added a warning against any mischief: “Nobody better not have hacked our favs page 🗣️.”
For the record, several other outlets have also reported Cardi B’s latest betting move.
Perhaps the more significant question is whether her money will double as promised. Will Tom Aspinall successfully defend his title, or will Ciryl Gane claim his first full UFC belt? Likewise, though billed as a hybrid professional bout, meaning the outcome will not enter official records, can Gervonta Davis defy the odds and beat the 200-pound Jake Paul?
Between Aspinall-Gane and Tank vs. Paul, who are your picks for the wins?
