Francis Ngannou is not letting UFC President Dana White go off the hook. It appears the former UFC champion left the promotion with a bad taste in the mouth. Despite putting his body on the line for promotion for years, the UFC declined to offer him the liberty to explore his dream of fighting inside the square circle. After severing the ties with UFC, ‘The Predator’ joined the rival PFL and decided to pursue his boxing dream as well. Besides the recent announcement of his boxing debut against Tyson Fury, a minute detail is attracting the fans’ eyeballs.

‘The Gypsy King’ and former heavyweight champion will square off against each other on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Amusingly, among the promotions involved, is Ngannou’s promotional banner, GIMIK Fight Promotions. The name seemingly alludes to the recent comments that the UFC head honcho made when he demeaned boxing matches.

Francis Ngannou gets back at Dana White for his “gimmicky” remarks

The uncanny resemblance to the White’s comments was brought up by prominent journalist Ariel Helwani. It is no surprise that he is at odds with the UFC President and is not letting an opportunity slip by to poke fun at him.

In a tweet, Helwani wrote, “Please don’t let this announcement distract from the fact that the name of Ngannou’s new fight promotion is … GIMIK Fight Promotions. 😅”.

Notably, the 53-year-old, when asked about the Tyson-Ngannou fight, labeled the boxing fights as “gimmicky.” He said, “That’s one of the big problems with boxing right now. It’s all about these gimmicky-type fights. That’s just not what I do here. That’s just not what I do. I put on fights with the best fighters in the world.”

As expected, White’s comments didn’t go well with the boxing community. The UFC world also couldn’t resist registering their dissent with White’s remarks. Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub unleashed a barrage of scathing statements as he asked where the Power Slap stands in White’s categorization. Further, he stated, “That’s a real f***ing fight, dude. Don’t disrespect Francis.”

Time and again White has come under fire for not sticking to his words. While White shunned the Tyson-Ngannou fight as a facade, he is currently hotly pursuing a super fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
