Matchroom Sport chief Eddie Hearn joined Conor McGregor to witness Katie Taylor‘s fight against the undisputed light-welterweight champion, Chantelle Cameron. The result may not have gone how ‘The Notorious’ would have wanted, as Taylor suffered her first professional loss via majority decision. In an interview after the fight, Eddie Hearn orated his experience watching a fight with McGregor.

Conor McGregor was one of the reasons why the fight between Taylor and Cameron came to fruition. He expressed support for his fellow countrywoman and mentioned that he sees himself in her. Furthermore, Katie Taylor has never competed in Ireland, but the former UFC double champ wanted to change that. The Matchroom Sport chairman had a wild ride sitting next to Conor McGregor at the 3Arena in Dublin. Eddie Hearn could feel how passionate ‘The Notorious’ was to see Katie Taylor fight. He said, “[It was] mental [watching the fight with McGregor]. I mean, he was great. He was passionate.” Hearn added, “He’s so passionate. Do you know what I mean?”

Eddie Hearn praised McGregor for his involvement with the event and his understanding of the whole idea of promoting a fight. He also mentioned his disappointment with the fight results. “His [McGregor] involvement was great. He was gutted when Gary Cully lost, and he’s gutted when Katie Taylor lost,” said the 43-year-old promoter. Hearn added, “He understands the game, and if you are in great fights, you get beat.”

Chantelle Cameron retains her undisputed title against Katie Taylor

Katie Taylor finally got handed her first professional defeat after a failed attempt to capture the undisputed light welterweight title against “Il Capo”. It was a close fight, with the judges scoring 95-95, 96-94, and 96-94, in favor of Chantelle Cameron. When Taylor’s 22-fight winning streak ended, the crowd in the arena was stunned to see their homegrown star lose via a majority decision.

Though the fight didn’t fail to deliver in terms of action, the loss dented Taylor’s hard-earned 7-year-long winning streak. Meanwhile, there were several fans who disagreed with the judges’ scores.

Nevertheless, Chantelle Cameron looked strong throughout the entire ten rounds of the fight. She impressed boxing fans with her accuracy and strength. She was successful in putting Katie Taylor on the back foot as she landed shots from a variety of angles.
