Jake Paul 27, and Mike Tyson 56, are set to fight in a match on 20th July which is going to be streamed on Netflix. This is not only a strategic move for both of them but also for Netflix, which will capture the audience and the interest without the hefty price tag of Pro League.  Even if the fight is being hyped up by the media, the duo getting into the ring is something that is being frowned upon universally. Many have supposedly said that this is a lose-lose situation for Paul and an insult to the legendary boxer.

Meanwhile, UFC veteran Chael Sonnen believes that this fight might not even see the light of day. Let’s see why and what he knows.

Sonnen said that Tyson and Paul have meaningful standing in society with their achievements, and can get noteworthy exposure for boxing. He said that even if Tyson were a legend and invincible during his time, presently there are younger guys who can move swiftly and fast in different directions. This might not bode well for Tyson. “Playing checkers against a chess player,” is how Sonnen described it. However, he stated that since both the stars have their standing in the fanbase, they might bring a lot of meaningful traffic. Nonetheless, Sonnen seemed skeptical about the fight happening at all.

The former UFC title challenger gave a snippet of what he might know about the industry. Sonnen said, “I used to make so much money with Jake Paul, I used to make so much money with Mike Tyson. There are things within an industry that we would never reveal, you never expose the business. It’s becoming harder and harder because there are very few things that aren’t exposed… If that comes out and it makes head waves, the balloon that is this fight just gets popped.”

Uncle Chael, who is known to be unfiltered with his comments, also declared that he was not hating on the fight, but his prediction about the fan reaction was negative. He also revealed that some kind of exposure can be tied to the success of this fight. The ‘American Gangster’ is not the only one having doubts and speculations. Even Shawn Porter was suspicious of the swift arrangement.

Shawn Porter is not convinced about Tyson vs. Paul

On the ‘PorterWay’ Podcast, he decided to talk about why he’s not excited about the exhibition bout between the 27-year-old social media star and the 57-year-old boxing veteran. He’s one of the few aficionados who believe that this fight might be a hoax. Porter declared, “I’m not excited and that’s why I don’t think the fight happening. I think for something like this to happen, it takes more than four to five days to make something like this happen.”

With that being said, Jake Paul is promoting the fight on his social media handles regularly.  The fight is taking place in AT&T stadium and many are speculating whether the fight is just a stunt for marketing or whether both the fighters are ready to go ahead against each other on July 20th. The fight that includes Tyson who is nearing 60 and has a huge influence, might reach the biggest audience in the sporting event.
