Nate Diaz fired a parting shot some time ago. The MMA icon minced no words in his response to Dustin Poirier, who had teased a comeback fight, a boxing match, or even a spelling bee contest. His reasons are simple: reports suggest Diaz covets a slot at the much-anticipated UFC White House next year. Though the fights have yet to be finalized, the event has already generated considerable buzz.

One of the names that tops the discussions is that of Conor McGregor. While they came close to a fight back in 2018, Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier never stepped into the cage together. Poirier recently retired after losing a decision to Max Holloway in a hometown farewell. Diaz, on the other hand, switched over, headlining a boxing card against Jorge Masvidal following his face-off with Jake Paul.

Nate Diaz: Dialing up the ambition

You had your chance u punked out. Get u some sleep ya old retired pu**y 💎,” wrote Nate Diaz. His tweet appeared after Dustin Poirier hinted at a potential comeback, making it clear that a cage fight had lost its appeal. However, a ring bout could change his mind. Laying down his conditions, ‘The Diamond’ added, “Zuffa Boxing 12rnds me and Nathaniel, I’d do it. Only 1 more fight I’d take.

Later, responding to a user, he added, “We not even going anywhere, but someone asked me… I’m retired; I’m done, but Nate is one that got away.” Not holding back, Nate Diaz fired: “I’d beat ur a** but ur not aloud.” This, however, only gave Poirier more opportunities to take potshots, joking that perhaps they could settle their rivalry in a spelling bee, the ‘hardest fight’ of their careers.

On his part, while remaining open to multiple possibilities—boxing, MMA, or jiu-jitsu—Diaz expressed keen interest in a fixture at the UFC White House. “100%. That’s the thing I’m most looking forward to,” he reportedly said.

It appears fans have already made up their minds.

Make it happen, Nate! McGregor 3 awaits!

This fan shouted, “McGregor vs. Diaz 3 – June 2026 – White House Lawn. @danawhite, make it happen. 🖊️” Dana White hasn’t announced the card for the future UFC event yet, as it’s still too early. However, including big names like Nate Diaz would make sense. Another fan echoed a similar sentiment: “That’s the fight. Main Event. BMF title.” McGregor has reportedly confirmed that his participation at the UFC White House, marking his comeback after a four-year absence, is a ‘done deal.’

The next user didn’t specify whether they are talking about a boxing match with Poirier or a cage trilogy with McGregor. Still, the prospect of the White House card delighted. “Beeeeeeeef! 💙 It’s the fight the people want. White House. Make it happen. STOCKTON!” They said.

Others pointed out the ambiguity in Diaz’s messages: “No clue the context of this, but I’d guess Connor got White House, and Nate’s crying like the bum he is.” With McGregor’s confidence in securing the White House fixture, many fans feel his rivals must be feeling jealous.

Yet, a Poirier-Diaz matchup still excites fans: “It’s not too late for him to unretire – this is a great fight fans would love.” Their point is valid. Poirier only recently announced his retirement. So he could train back into shape if a fight were arranged.

In 2018, Diaz and Poirier came closest to facing each other. But the bout never materialized after Poirier reportedly pulled out due to injury.

Diaz already had a match against Jorge Masvidal last year, which received a decent turnout and offered him a chance to avenge his 2019 knockout loss. If the McGregor trilogy fails to materialize, a bout with Poirier could become a headline-grabbing attraction.

Which fight would you rather see: Diaz vs. Poirier or Diaz vs. McGregor?
