“I Don’t Think That Girl Belongs in Jail but…” – Brittney Griner Case Now Faces Allegation of Unreal ‘Hypocrisy’ by an Ex-UFC Star

Brittney Griner’s situation in Russia has taken center stage in the news. Athletes from different sports have shared their views on the same. Recently, a former Strikeforce middleweight champion shared his thoughts on the latest development in the Brittney Griner case. The fighter claimed ‘unreal hypocrisy’ in regard to the situation.
WNBA star Brittney Griner was detained in Russia for possession of illegal substances. Since then, a section of people has been calling out the US government to bring Griner back to the country. The Biden administration has now offered Russia to trade Viktor Bout for the WNBA star and another American. Bout is a convicted Russian arms trafficker serving a 25-year prison sentence in the US.

American political commentator Mike Ceronivich reacted to this potential exchange. On Twitter, Cernovich wrote, “Imagine being in jail for drug possession and seeing Biden is gonna release an infamous Russian arms dealer in exchange for an American who was imprisoned for drug crimes.”

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields was one of the many people who reacted to Cernovich’s post. The fighter tweeted, “I don’t think that girl belongs in jail but the hypocrisy is unreal”

This is not the first time Shields has involved himself in the Brittney Griner case. Previously, the middleweight fighter reacted to comment the WNBA star made in the Russian court.

In his tweet, Jake Shields seemed to take a shot at Brittney Griner. The fighter wrote, “Only the country she hates so much has that law and even here it’s not until they question you”

The former middleweight champion was probably referring to the time when the Houston-born WNBA opposed the US national anthem. Griner received a lot of flak from her compatriots for the same.
Shields over the years has developed an outspoken approach. While he isn’t active in the cage anymore, the fighter constantly updates his fans by sharing his views on different topics via social media.
