The UFC is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The promotion has come a long way. It started with the curiosity of identifying the most effective martial arts and became one of the biggest combat sports industries. The credit lies with its president, Dana White. But what’s next for the UFC? What does the future hold for the biggest MMA organization in the world? UFC star Jorge Masvidal projects a bright future.
‘Gamebred’ believes the UFC will continue its ascendance beyond the upcoming UFC 300 and surpass other major sports. Meanwhile, other sports remain restricted to the United States. He predicted such a surge was not decades but mere years away. The 38-year-old foresees a future where the scale of the UFC expands.

Jorge Masvidal and the vision of the UFC in next 10 years
The Miami native appeared in an interview with ESPN, and when asked about what the UFC would look like in the next 30 years, he was upbeat about the future. He went to the extent of projecting it as the number two sport in the world, brushing aside the NBA and NFL. While the UFC’s popularity would soar overseas, its competitors would fail to do so.
He said, “I think, just 10 years bro, it’s gonna be number 2 sport in the world and by a lot. Like, the number three will be a good distance away, you know. I don’t know like American football and basketball is ever going. But I don’t think it’ll ever be like MMA on the worldwide theme.”
Following this, the 35-17 record holder detailed the future dynamics of the NBA and NFL in the United States. Except for the rise of generational talent in other sports, he doesn’t believe any other sport is catching up to the UFC.

Masvidal doesn’t see the UFC’s juggernaut stopping
“In the country, we don’t know. I think they’ll have swings, and it’ll be a give-and-take. Some future Michael Jordan comes out in basketball, we’ll see higher basketball and this,” Masvidal declared. Further, he anticipated an increasing exchange in the NBA, NFL, and MMA, but things wouldn’t be the same on a global level. He added, “I think, you know, basketball, football, MMA will do a lot of exchanging. But on the worldwide level, I don’t see those sports ever catching up fighting. I don’t see anything catching up the fighting.”

Lastly, Masvidal pointed out that soccer would retain its top spot, especially due to the World Cup. However, he also believed one fighter could put his country on the map, no matter how small, and cited the example of Marlon Vera. These comments would definitely boost Dana White’s morale as he tries to build a star-studded card for UFC 300.
