So, the UFC and Dana White naturally set their eyes on the five-time ADCC world champion. Even Ryan wants to increase his popularity and spread his wings into the world of the UFC. But he had a strange request to the UFC and mentioned one of the hottest prospects on the scene, Paddy Pimblett.

In ep.33 of Straight Outta The Lair podcast with 7-time Mr.Olympia winner, Flex Lewis. Gordon Ryan revealed he wants to have the same marketing that “Paddy The Baddy” has. Because Liverpudlian has a fabulous online presence and boasts 2.5 million followers on Instagram.

The 27-year-old sweet-talker knows how to work the media in his favor and Gordon Ryan might be envious.

Ryan said, “All I want is the Paddy Pimblett marketing.”

He added, “This guy gets his Instagram deleted like every other week and he’s got three million followers the next day.”

The torchbearer of the No-Gi grappling scene wants to break into the UFC ranks. And show the huge MMA audience the true power of grappling. But, not before he gets similar marketing treatment as Dana White gives to wonderkid, Paddy Pimblett.

Gordon ‘King’ Ryan was recently involved in an Instagram controversy with Conor McGregor’s friend, Dillon Danis. Both of them had a back-and-forth and almost fought each other over a silly reason.

‘King’ wants to exploit the UFC to improve his marketability

However, Ryan demands special attention from UFC bosses. He understood that the latest ADCC event grabbed a lot of attention among UFC fans, who want to see more of that action. Also, knows that nobody would question his ability and track record in grappling.

Ryan commented, “I think they’re going to start pushing a lot more of their marketing and money into grappling. I think this is like their tester….after ADCC, everyone’s eyes are kind of open now. This is like a test run to see how much revenue the biggest star can generate.”

Therefore, Ryan considers himself a big star who can boost the image of the UFC. But some of Pimblett’s marketing techniques could make him a bigger one.
