At UFC 263, ‘The Assassin Baby’ Brandon Moreno earned a sensational finish over the former champion, Deiveson Figueiredo to become the new flyweight king. UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, who monitored how things unfolded during the event, was elated to see Moreno pull off such a masterclass.
Not so long ago, the UFC cut ‘The Assassin Baby’ from the promotion. However, he returned and made his way up the ladder yet again, finally achieving his championship aspirations. “Man, that’s that’s incredible. You know, when you look at the last performances, I didn’t have him as an underdog but like I actually watched him train,” said Volkanovski.

He’s just so tough that And he is, uh, you know, he’s got a lot of skill and you know, but to see that was incredible to see where he was and how much he evolved and then as you seen him evolve. That’s when you realize that you know, sky is limit, you know what I mean?” Volkanovski added.
The featherweight champion also said that when Moreno first started he wasn’t the best fighter on the UFC roster. However, through determination and hard work, he finally achieved his goal of becoming a UFC champion.
“It’s, it is inspiring, and it’s humbling to see and I always say like even I feel like I’m still the underdog even though I’m the champ,” said Volkanovski.
