Being a “Misfit” Himself, Joe Rogan Admits to the Real Reason He Never Felt Like He “Fit in Anywhere”

Joe Rogan recently released a JRE episode where he shared with his guest Tony Hinchcliffe why he always considered himself a ‘misfit.’ During the course of the discussion, the 56-year-old, known for his versatility in making conversation, revealed something interesting from his childhood.

The BJJ black belt is one of the most popular figures on the planet. He also has a Taekwondo black belt and is a stand-up comic who was at one time a host on Fear Factor. So why does someone so globally recognized identify as a misfit?

While speaking to Hinchcliffe, Rogan shared his childhood stories and how he felt when he shifted to New York. During the conversation, he mentioned how he liked pool players and considered them misfits. Joe Rogan is one of the most influential personalities and has interviewed some of the biggest celebrities from different domains. Nevertheless, he still considers himself a ‘misfit’ and likes hanging out with wild people. 

During the podcast, Rogan said: “But pool players are funny, man. They are outcasts, you know? That’s what I love the most. When I was a kid, I went to New York, and I started hanging out at this executive billiards place that was near my house. I f..ng just love being around misfits. They were all misfits, totally. I always felt like a misfit man. I never felt like I fit in anywhere. Like with regular people that had regular families and regular jobs like, oh my god, what am I going to talk to you about? I want to be around wild people. These people are all wild. “

This did not just give Rogan a crowd to mingle with. Rather, it cultivated in him an interest in pool, something that he has been very vocal about.

Rogan and his growing love for the sport of pool

Joe Rogan has a keen interest in Mixed Martial Arts and is known to have a MMA background. The UFC Color commentator also shared his love for pool in a past podcast. Rogan invited Fedor Gorst as his guest on his podcast a few years back. During the entire conversation, Rogan seemed very excited and wanted to help in making the pool a famous sport. Gorst is one of the most celebrated players in the pool community and has made a name for himself at the World Nine-Ball Championship, the U.S. Open Pool Championship, and the Derby City Classic. During the podcast, Rogan revealed his love for the pool. 

During the podcast, Rogan also highlighted the fact that how the internet has played a major role in helping the game grow. He also showed his willingness to host games and use his platform to help the sport grow. However, this was not the first time that Rogan showed his interest in the game. In 2019, he stumbled upon an interview with Andrew Santino on YouTube and Santino advised him to organize a pool show.
